L3 Commercial Aviation To Launch First U.S.-Based Airline Training Center

Staff Report | DFW Newsflash | June 2019

L3 Commercial Aviation announced today that it will launch a U.S.-based airline training center near Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW). The center in Arlington, Texas, will provide Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) training courses and dry leasing options for airline customers within the Americas using L3’s world-leading RealitySeven Full Flight Simulators (FFS).

“We are excited to make this commitment to L3’s operations and to grow our long-established pilot training presence in the U.S.,” said Robin Glover-Faure, President of Commercial Training Solutions, which is part of L3 Commercial Aviation. “We look forward to welcoming current and new airline customers as we enhance aviation safety, performance and cost-efficiency. This investment reflects our confidence in the future of the commercial aviation sector and mirrors the growing demand for effective and efficient pilot training in the region and around the world.”

The commercial pilot training center will be co-located with the L3 Link Training & Simulation headquarters and training center. The commercial airline training center is scheduled to open in October 2019 and will provide a progressive learning environment, which will initially feature Airbus A320 and Boeing 737NG RealitySeven FFS, together with classrooms, briefing rooms and supporting amenities.

The commercial airline training center will supplement L3’s existing U.S. pilot training footprint, including the L3 Airline Academy in Sanford, Florida, which trains over 600 new civilian pilots a year. The expanded portfolio and presence will allow L3 to offer uniquely tailored pilot training solutions, from initial training through type rating, as well as recurrent and command upgrade. The center will be well placed to support airline customers in the U.S., Canada and South America.
