Cowboys legend opens sports bar in DFW Airport

Drew Pearson, best known as Dallas Cowboys’ former wide receiver, signed footballs and autographs for fans on Jan. 15 celebrating the opening of Drew Pearson Sports*88, a new sports bar and grill located inside Terminal E at DFW Airport.

Starters, burgers, sandwiches are served at the restaurant along with special menu items like “the original Frito pie,” the “hold ‘em long Texas BYO burger” and the “Mr. Clutch BBQ meat sandwich.”

“When the opportunity was presented to me, it inspired me,” Pearson said. “I thought it was a great opportunity. At first I was thinking ‘why me,’ and then I thought let’s do this and try to make something happen with it.

“I am proud I am working with such a diversified group. It’s special we’re doing on Martin Luther King’s birthday, because he was all about liberty, justice, and opportunity. That’s what DFW Airport is all about as well. They are giving a former Dallas Cowboy the opportunity to be planted in this airport forever.

“This has been a long process. We started this in 2011, and now in 2018, it’s finally here. The lesson learned here is if you have an idea, and you have something good, then you should stick with the process, because it will eventually play our in your favor.

“For the younger generation I would suggest the same thing,” Pearson said. “This is an instant success society, everybody wants success to happen overnight. If it does it’s only fleeting, but if you take the road less traveled, sometimes you have a chance to be successful. Once you achieve success, you have to maintain it and sustain it over your lifetime.”

The new location also plans to sell Drew Pearson’s apparel.

“We are so excited to have Drew Pearson as a partner,” Donata Russell Ross, CEO, Concessions International, LLC said. “He’s an icon here in Dallas, and more importantly a great individual and a great person.

Currently, Pearson hosts “The Drew Pearson Show” radio show.

“He is engaged and wants to spend time here broadcasting his radio shows,” Ross said. “We couldn’t have a better partner and we’re excited that we’re going to be working with him. There’s no better person to represent this restaurant in the Dallas-Fort worth region than him.”

This restaurant offers customers a championship level restaurant to enjoy while they wait for their flights, providing a great atmosphere with legendary service.

“With this restaurant, we hope to elevate the customer experience,” Ken Buchanan, executive vice president of revenue management, DFW Airport said.
