American Airlines Federal Credit Union Awards Scholarships to Students

FORT WORTH—For more than a decade, American Airlines Federal Credit Union has been proud to invest in the futures of its young member-owners by providing scholarship awards toward higher education. This year, out of more than 500 initial applicants, the Credit Union awarded a total of 11 scholarships. Six high school students and five college students each received $5,000 scholarships.

“We take great pride in doing what we can to help these outstanding young people pursue their dreams,” said Lori Hall, senior vice president of member experience at American Airlines Credit Union. “We have no doubts that we will see great things from each and every one of them.”

The recipients of the 2019 American Airlines Credit Union Scholarship:

High School Recipients

Benjamin Benjadol, 18, of Euless, Texas, plans to study mechanical and aerospace engineering at Princeton University.

Jenna Leihgeber, 18, of Tyler, Texas, will study industrial distribution engineering at Texas A&M University.

Arjun Mehendale, 18, of Grapevine, Texas, will study neuroscience at the University of Texas at Dallas.

Neel Sheth, 18, of Flower Mound, Texas, will study accounting at the University of Southern California.

Claire Tebbutt, 18, of Cabot, Arkansas, plans to study international studies at Georgetown University.

Valeria Vela, 18, of Key Biscayne, Florida, plans to study mathematics at Harvard University.

College Recipients

Nicholas Cave, 20, of Southlake, Texas, is studying commercial entrepreneurship at Florida State University.

Ashley Jackson, 33, of Cypress, Texas, is pursuing her Masters of Business Administration at Baylor University.

Connor McLeod, 19, of Brewster, Massachusetts, is undeclared at the College of the Holy Cross.

Kathryn Raeder, 20, of River Forest, Illinois, is studying geography at McGill University in Montreal, Canada.

Victoria Rodriguez, 19, of Miami, Florida, is studying nursing at Barry University.

In addition to the scholarship winners, $1,000 was awarded to Jacob Vaughn of Charlotte, North Carolina, who is studying banking and finance at the University of Mississippi. This award was provided by Student Choice, the Credit Union’s primary provider of student lending products.
